This Labor Day weekend in Montreal, many friends, families and co-workers will get together to celebrate the final official weekend of summer. Of course, the city is still as vibrant as ever with things to do before the beaches wrap up for the summer and the last of the cities summer festivities conclude. So now, we’ve put gathered up some of those fun things in list form so that you can celebrate this Labor Day in MTL properly.

Old Port’s Clock Tower Beach

With most of the beaches already closed, you’ll want to get there before the Clock Tower beach closes for the summer after Sept. 1st! Swing by the Quays of Old Port and enjoy the last of the summer rays at Montreal’s favorite swim-free beach. Admission is free of charge before 5 p.m.

Montreal Burger Week

Participate in the annual contest where 30 restaurants in MTL compete for the “The People’s Best Burger.” Starting September 1st, patrons will cast votes all week for their favorite Montreal burger. Each restaurant will be serving a their own unique $10 burger exclusively made to participate in the Burger Week challenge.

Montreal’s Botanical Gardens

If you are in the mood for a nature getaway in the city while the weather is nice, the Botanical Gardens will hit the spot. There are plenty of featured shows within the gardens if you want more than just a stroll to take in the natural wonders. Enjoy tea ceremonies at the Japanese gardens or cocktails in the park. Saturdays feature classical music in the Insectarium, and you can catch art exhibits on Sunday as well.

World Film Festival in Montreal

From August 21st through September 2nd go out and catch one of the largest competitive film festivals in the world. You’ll get the chance to catch international premiers of hundreds films of all shapes and sizes. Alternatively, if you’re just looking for a less intensive movie-going experience, Montreal’s outdoor film in the park series is free of charge every Tuesday night until September 16th.

Montreal Terraces

If you just want to lounge well, you wouldn’t be different from most enjoying the summer weather in MTL. Meeting up and socializing on Montreal’s terraces is the city’s favorite leisure activity every summer. In fact, you’ll want to call terraces before you head out on Labor Day, as they’ll be in many Montrealers’ plans this weekend.
